ENGAGEMENT of “PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE, PoP”
Applications are invited for the position of PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE in the Discipline/Field mentioned below for various academic units of Gondwana University, Gadchiroli
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in relevant industry.
- A strong record of performance.
Terms and Conditions:
- The appointment will be on a Contract basis.
- Remuneration - consolidated amount mutually agreed between the institution and the expert.
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for an interview.
- The institution reserves the right to modify or cancel the advertisement at any stage.
Applications are invited from distinguished experts and professionals to be engaged as Professor of Practice in the following departments/ academic units of Gondwana University, Gadchiroli.
Objectives of Appointment:
- To develop courses and curriculum to meet the industry and societal needs and enable the HEIs to work with industry experts on joint research projects and consultancy services which will be mutually beneficial;
- To bring in distinguished experts from various fields such as engineering, science, technology, entrepreneurship, management, chartered accountancy (CA), commerce, social sciences, media, literature, fine arts, civil services, armed forces, legal profession and public administration into the academic institutions;
- To enable the higher education institutions to formally associate with persons of eminence and encourage them to participate in experiential learning, research, training, skilling, entrepreneurship and extension and to play mentoring role.

2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA & EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
As per the guidelines for Professor of Practice, a formal Ph.D. is not mandatory. However, the candidate must possess the following: (As per Maharashtra Government GR No. 2022/10/22/TE-1 dtd. 29.12.2022).
- Distinguished Expertise: The candidate should be a distinguished expert who has made remarkable contributions in their profession from fields such as engineering, science, technology, entrepreneurship, commerce, social sciences, media, literature, fine arts, etc.
- Experience: A minimum of 15 years of service/experience is required, preferably at a senior level (e.g., Senior Manager, CTO, VP, Chief Architect, or Consultant).
- Educational Background: Candidates should possess a relevant under-graduate degree or an equivalent qualification from a reputed institution, as per Table 1.0.
- Exclusion: Those who are currently in the teaching profession (regular faculty members) are not eligible for this specific role.
3. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Professor of Practice will be expected to:
- Develop and teach courses with a focus on industry practices and latest trends.
- Collaborate with regular faculty members for joint research projects and consultancy.
- Mentor students for innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup incubation.
- Design industry-oriented curriculum and introduce new electives.
- Facilitate industry-academia linkages, internships, and placement opportunities.

4. TERMS AND CONDITIONS (GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS)
- Nature of Appointment: The engagement is purely on a contractual/fixed-term basis. It does not confer any right to claim permanent employment.
- Tenure: The initial engagement will be for a period of one (1) year. Based on performance and requirements, this may be extended. The maximum duration of service as a Professor of Practice shall not generally exceed three (3) years (extendable to 4 years in exceptional cases).
- Remuneration: The remuneration will be a consolidated amount, mutually agreed upon based on the candidate's expertise and experience and as per UGC guidelines for Professor of Practice.
- Leave Rules: The appointee will be entitled to leaves as per the specific policy of the Institute applicable to contractual staff.
- Conflict of Interest: Professionals currently working in the industry may also apply, provided they obtain a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC) from their current employer to dedicate the required time to the institute.
- Termination: The engagement can be terminated by either side by giving one month's notice or salary in lieu thereof.
- Selection Process: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interaction/interview with a Selection Committee constituted by the Institute, as per the specified provision in Maharashtra Government GR No. 2022/10/22/TE-1 dtd. 29.12.2022.
